Frittering Away Promise Money

Last year the School Board caught some flak when it spent $70,000 to hire a school board team building organization.

The first thing its consultant told the Board was that it could censure and remove a school board who voted against the majority. That was for Gary Glass. Its absurd but it served to tell Gary how he would be treated after being voted onto the board with a 60% blow out election victory.

The $80,000 that this team building organization was subsequently awarded without having to bid on it was to advertise Dr. Dixon's Promise Committee. Ostensibly to improve the classroom this is the beginning of the campaign to pass the fall levy. State law prevents the School District from spending money to advertise in favor of a levy it has proposed so this $80,000 expenditure will do little more than take the place of a teacher and a quarter.

Here's one of its recent ads placed in the doting Duluth News Tribune.

The latest information about the Red Plan can be found at Harry Welty's blog: www.lincolndemocrat.com

Today's tidbit from Harry: "Finally, the Duluth News Tribune
reported
on Rep. Mike Jaros’s bill which could potentially
cripple the Red Plan a week after he introduced it. . ."
